Squires

Posted in Guild Ranks

Squires are our lowest rank, replacing the in-game rank of "Member". Squires represent our prospective members, as they are NOT full members.

In fact, much like the squires of old, they are learning how to become a member. In that same spirit, we have adopted a mentoring system where a Dragonknight will sponsor and be responsible for teaching each new member "the ropes". This is also done in this manner as an effort to further integrate a new member socially into our community. Every new member should be on the lookout for a Dragonknight to teach and sponsor them, particularly one to do adventures with. Without a sponsor, a Squire has no hope of promotion.

Squires:

★ are considered probationary the entire time they hold the rank, and watched closely.
★ have fewer privileges and less access rights on our Discord Server.

★ are subject to dismissal from the guild at any time for cause, and have fewer rights.
★ are not considered permanent members or permanently assigned to any of our guilds, and are subject to transfer or release.
★ are the first players we look to replace with new recruits and are not protected like Dragonknights.
★ are not published on our official rosters.
★ are not allowed to add an alt to any of our guilds, including the one they are in.

Dragonknights

Posted in Guild Ranks

Dragonknights are our permanent full members of our organization. The rank replaces the in-game rank of "Officer". While not officers per se, they are honored beyond being just a regular member. They also have the authority and obligations far exceeding the common rank and file as well.

The hallmarks of a Dragonknight are loyalty, participation, and the demonstration of a helpful nature to others.

Eligibility:

In order to become a Dragonknight, or full member of our guild system, one must be go above and beyond to prove themselves to their peers.

★ a firm understanding of our rules, policies, and procedures. In particular, there is an emphasis on Adventures & Guild Wars.
★ an interest in becoming a full and permanent member of our community. They consider the Dragons their primary gaming clan.
★ be a member for at least three months. (We reference the join date to Dragons Lair)
★ be a member of our Discord server

In order to be promoted, a member must petition their GM. Simply contact your GM and tell him or her you want to be a Dragonknight.

Promotion Process:

All Dragonknights are elected, and elections occur monthly. All members holding the rank of Dragonknight are allowed to vote on a member's candidacy:

★ The council of Dragonlords considers all petitioners, and narrows the list down to a maximum of 3 candidates for a vote.
★ A private vote runs for one week, from Sunday to Sunday, in Discord only. All Dragonknights, and only Dragonknights, may vote during the election.
★ The candidate with the greatest number of votes is the winner. Only one candidate is elevated.

Dragonknights:
★ are invited to join the Facebook Group and Messenger Group or our guilds.
★ must add "KotD" to the end of their in-game name of their characters in our guilds to denote their status. Only Dragonknights are allowed to do so.
★ are considered full members of a permanent nature.
★ have greater privileges and access rights on our Discord Server.

★ can not be dismissed from the guild by anyone but the Guildmaster, and even then, have a right to appeal to the Council of Dragonlords by contacting another GM.
★ are not subject to release and may decline a request to transfer by an individual GM. However, the Council of Dragonlords has the power to compel a transfer.
★ are expected to serve as moderators in our Discord Server.
★ may be allowed to add an alt to our guilds (other than the one they are in already), subject to any rules on alts and the discretion of the specific guild's guildmaster.

Knight Commanders

Knight Commanders replace the "General" rank in-game. They wear several hats: general, assistant guildmaster, and team leader combined into one. Knight Commanders play "Good cop" and leave the "Bad Cop" routine of disciplinary actions to the Dragonlords. When we say "officers", we are referring to the Knight Commanders and Dragonlords. There are three (3) Knight Commanders per guild.

The Knight Commanders have the following responsibilities:

★ Leading the guild war for a predetermined time period, or "shift".
We refer to these time periods as Early (first 3 hours), Middle (middle 4 hours) and Late (last 4 hours) of the guild war.
★ Serving as Moderator for our Discord Server, and actively participating and encouraging others to do the same.
★ Assisting with communications, either by contacting members on behalf of the GM or echoing the message of the day in Guildchat.

Additional minor duties include:

★ Active participation in the officer chat
★ Monitoring the Absences channel and communicating issues related to that in the officer chat.
★ General supervisory duties, such as monitoring activity and fielding complaints about adventures gone wrong.

Promotion Process & Eligibility:

In order to become a Knight Commander one must:

★ Have adequate availability during a needed time frame for guild war coverage.
★ Have an interest in learning about guild management and guild war generalship.
★ Utilize Discord and have an interest in further developing it's usage.

Promotions are decided by the Dragonlord of the guild in question.

Restrictions:

★ May not have an alt in the same guild they are in.
★ May not remove members from the guild without cause AND without consulting and obtaining a "second" by a Dragonlord or other Knight Commander prior to removing someone.
